I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. Today, I am overwhelmed with gratitude as I extend my heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of you. Your unwavering support and dedication to the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) have been the foundation of our success, and it is with great joy that we celebrate you – our lifeline, our champions of smiles.
We are excited to begin our lead-up to the 100th Anniversary of ADAA. In the next nine months, we are planning events and changes to advance the organization. The Membership and Education Councils, along with staff teams, have been diligently working on various projects.
As the year draws to a close and the festive spirit of December fills the air, I want to take a moment to extend my deepest gratitude and warmest wishes to each of you, the invaluable members of the American Dental Assistants Association.
The ADAA/DANB Scholarship helps dental assistants advance in the profession.
The American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) and the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2023 ADAA/DANB Scholarship, a program that helps dental assistants reach their career goals to advance in the dental assisting profession.
We are approaching a time of celebration and giving. As I reflect on the past year, I am thankful for family, friends, and my profession. Dental Assisting has brought many joys, achievements, friendships, and pride in my chosen profession. I think about the new dental assistant just starting their career and remember the excitement I felt. I had guidance from my office and established friendships and mentors through ADAA. We are the mentors to the next generation of dental assistants.

How exciting it is to be a part of ADAA, Juliette Southard’s dream which was developed over 100 years ago, just celebrated its 99th annual session. I am honored and excited to embark on my term as ADAA President representing the oldest and largest professional association dedicated to the dental assisting profession. My goal is to focus on the foundational elements of this organization - membership and education. We have an opportunity to reimagine a healthier, stronger ADAA. It only takes a spark to get a fire going, but as you add more wood, you become a bonfire. That is what we are building today.
As I reflect on my year as the President of ADAA, I'm amazed at how swiftly time has passed. My tenure will conclude on October 7, 2023, at 12:00 pm CDT during our Annual Session. Serving as your president has been an immense honor, and I'm deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me.

As we approach our 100th anniversary in November 2024, I find myself reflecting on history, particularly, our most recent history. I’ve heard questions and comments from members regarding where ADAA stands. So, for this month’s message, I want to clearly communicate where ADAA stands today.

The ADAA extends condolences to the dental community for the loss of Ms. Ann Battrell, CEO of ADHA since 2016. Ann, a respected innovator and collaborator, passed away on June 7, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of leadership.
Congratulations on your commencement! Now it's time to embark on your professional journey as much-needed dental assistant. There are plenty of employers eagerly waiting to hire you. And being connected to a leading, trusted dental association such as the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) will help you go far.
I have exciting news to share. ADAA has undergone a remarkable transformation as we embrace technology and step into the twenty-first century. Our partnership with Kellen has allowed us to continue our journey towards success and excellence.
Graduation season is here, and I can’t help but think of our many student members who have put in the hard work and dedication over the years to reach this very most important milestone. This is an exciting time they are entering—a new profession, putting learned skills to use.
Happy Spring! This is the time of year that brings renewal and rebirth. ADAA is in a season of rebirth and renewal with many exciting endeavors on the horizon. Next year, we celebrate 100 years of representing dental assistants all over the world.
As we begin a new year, we have the opportunity to refresh, improve, expand and update – ourselves, our environments, and our relationships to name a few. As your president and a member of the newly installed Board of Directors, we are looking at all ADAA’s programs and services to ensure the value of your membership.
