1010 - Dentinal Hypersensitivity: Dilemmas and Treatment

Author/Editor: Howard E. Strassler, DMD, FADM, FAGD, FACD

The increasing life span of the average person is resulting in patients who will need dental health care for a longer period of time. Gingival recession is a condition that is known to worsen with age and its part in dentinal hypersensitivity cannot be ignored. When a patient presents with dentinal hypersensitivity, dental professionals have an obligation to provide well-considered recommendations for treatment. Areas discussed will include the diagnosis of the disease, factors contributing to dentinal hypersensitivity, and reviewing and choosing the correct course of treatment.
