COURSE DESCRIPTION

This live webinar is APPROVED FOR ONE (1) CE CREDIT and is designed for the dental professional to familiarize them with the systemic health needs and medical challenges of individuals with special health care needs.

PRINCIPAL FACULTY

Robert E. Rada, DDS, MBA
, is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, Chicago, IL. He also maintains a private practice in LaGrange, Illinois focusing on patients with special needs. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages are cared for in his practice. Advanced behavior management, anesthesia care and hospital dentistry are all part of his practice. Dr. Rada has facilitated many live patient courses to assist dentists, dental students and dental auxiliaries in their learning to care for dental patients with special needs. He teaches in the Group Practice Clinics and currently has dental students rotate through his private practice and directs the Special Care Dentistry Track at UIC.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

After participating in this program the dental professional should be able to:

  • Identify the systemic health needs and medical challenges of individuals with special health care needs.
  • Develop skill in providing much needed oral health care to people with special needs.
  • Recognize behavioral interventions that may be useful in achieving treatment success in the dental office.
