Communicating in a Post-Pandemic Practice (AGD 550)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This webinar is designed for the dental professional to familiarize them with effective communication strategies to enhance their overall communication skills during the COVID pandemic using non-verbal and nonphonemic properties.

PRINICIPAL FACULTY

Sheila Clancy, MBA, CDA, is a practice management consultant with over 45 years in the dental profession. She has worked as a chairside certified dental assistant as well as a treatment coordinator in several orthodontic practices. She worked as an administrator for a large multi-specialty group practice for 16 years. In 1988 she co-founded Project Stretch, Inc: Dentistry Reaching Out to Children. Through the years she has lectured to dental teams around the country about practice management issues that impact all members of the team.

She holds a BSBA in Accounting from Northeastern University and an MBA from Babson College.

She has served at the local, state, and national level of the ADAA through the years and is currently the Audit Chair for the Indiana Dental Assistants Association.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

After participating in this program the dental professional should be able to:

  • Define and understand the basics of effective communication.
  • Describe the effects that the pandemic has had on Kinesics and Paralinguistics.
  • Determine the best methods and aides to use when communicating when using PPE.
  • Address the needs of hearing impaired and deaf patients.
  • Institute changes that will enhance your communication skills, including written documentation for all communication.
