COVID-19 Coronavirus - How to Protect Your Dental Office and Patients LIVE (AGD 148)

This live webinar is APPROVED FOR TWO (2) CE CREDITS. In the current state of the global pandemic of the COVID-19 coronavirus, health care workers are experiencing numerous challenges in the delivery of care. This includes dentistry. Learn the origin of the coronavirus, its path from local transmissions to global outbreak, as well as the protocols that must be followed to protect the health and safety of patients and members of the dental team.


Mary Govoni, CDA, RDH, MBA is an internationally recognized speaker, author and consultant, working with dental teams for over 45 years on infection prevention and control, clinical efficiency and ergonomics.

Mary is a Certified OSHA Outreach Trainer and assists dental pratices' across the country in achieving compliance with regulatory requirements. Mary also is known for her practical approaches to implementing systems and protocols to enhance patient safety, privacy and data security. Mary is a past-president of the American Dental Assistants Association, a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association, a member of the Organization for Safety, Asepsis, and Prevention, the Academy of Dental Management Consultants, and the Speaking and Consulting Network. She has published numerous articles in Dental Economics, the Dental Assistant journal, RDH Magazine, Dentisty Today, Inside Dentistry, and many others.


After participating in this program, the dental professional should be able to:

1.  Identify characteristics of coronaviruses, including the COVID-19 virus.
2.  Differentiate between coronavirus and influenza regarding symptoms, incubation time, transmission and morbidity/mortality.
3.  Develop an action plan for their practice for screening patients for respiratory infections.
4.  Identify the personal protective equipment necessary for dental health care workers to protect themselves from respiratory infections and specifically the COVID-19 virus.
