Sharon Dickinson, CDA, CDPMA, RDA, CPFDA, CRFDA, Professor (Ret.)

Sharon K. Dickinson, CDA, CDPMA, RDA, CPFDA, CRFDA, has been actively involved in the dental profession as a chairside assistant, office manager, consultant and educator. Prior to her retirement in 2014, she held the position of Director of the Dental Assisting Program at the El Paso Community College.  Currently she is adjunct in the El Paso Community College Continuing Education Health Dental Program.  Ms. Dickinson has more than 40 years of clinical and practical experience in dentistry, and speaks and consults extensively on OSHA, infection control, the practice and delivery of four handed dentistry, ergonomics, and dental team communications. She is an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer. 

Ms. Dickinson is active in the community providing education regarding oral heath and in the importance of providing a dental home to other health related professionals. In addition, Professor Dickinson has published numerous articles and continuing education courses.


Upon completion of this course, the dental professional should be able to: 

1. Discuss how to involve and get the dental health care team to take part in infection control regarding policies and procedures.
2. Discuss how to keep the team on the same page regarding infection control policies and procedures.
3. Evaluate infection control products.
4. Describe infection control breaches.
5. Discuss what to do if an infection control breach occurs.
