CDT 2018 Update for Dental Assistants (AGD 550)
Presenter: Patti DiGangi, RDH, BS
This webinar is designed to help dental assistants identify coding challenges and the steps that can be taken to minimize the effects of those challenges.
Patti DiGangi, RDH, BS
Ms. DiGangi believes dentistry is no longer just about fixing teeth; dentistry is indeed oral medicine with opportunities to understand the metrics that accurate procedure coding provides. In fact, the ADA recognized her expertise by inviting her to write a chapter in their CDT 2017 and 2018 Companion books.
Patti holds publishing and speaking licenses with the ADA for Current Dental Terminology, 2018 as well as SNODENT, 2018 diagnostic coding. She is the author of DentalCodeology, which is a series of easy-to-read, bite-sized books. Her latest brand extension, The Dental Codeologist Community, was launched in August 2017. Dealing with dental benefits carriers, codes and coverage often leads to frustration and helplessness. Dental Codeologists have a voice and choose to shape the future of coding and healthcare.
Ms. DiGangi is a recognized leader in the field of codeology. She has written and lectured extensively on the subject, and enjoys sharing her enthusiasm and challenging your thinking regarding new and revised CDT codes and other early detection and treatment options.
Her educational background is extensive. She received her Bachelors of Science in Health Care Leadership from National Louis University in 1996, and received her AAS in Dental Hygiene in 1973 from William Rainey Harper College.
Ms. DiGangi is a consultant for Acteon, AirTechniques, Curaprox, and GC America; owns stock in Dental RAT, OraHealth; receives other financial or material support from Crown Seating, Lexicomp, and Dental RAT; and she is the owner/part-owner of DentalCodeology.
Upon completion of this course, the dental professional should be able to:
1. Differentiate fees, codes and coverage.
2. Identify recent new and revised CDT 2018 codes.
3. Map-out the changes new codes bring for each team member including the dental assistant.
4. Merge the latest oral-systemic information with new technology and patient testing options.
5. Outline the steps of determining medical-dental necessity to optimize dental benefits and medical-dental cross-coding.
